Motor trails anniversary 5 countries

This special trip goes through five countries in South East Asia. 

Vietnam
We start in the country where it all started. 
Here we follow our Vietnam North-South Route, through the mountains along the coast and over the Ho Chi Minh route. We stop in the ancient imperial city of Hue and of course in Hoi An. Just before Saigon we transfer to the South Vietnam Mekong Delta motorcycle trip. This starts with the ferry crossing from Vung Tao to the Mekong Delta, from then on we almost exclusively follow narrow paths, take dozens of small ferries and drive over hundreds of bridges, up to the border with Cambodia.
 

Cambodia
This is the second country where Motor Trails ever organized motorcycle trips. We ride a few new routes here and then follow parts of our Cambodia Adventure motorcycle trip, many unpaved paths. Of course we stop in Siema Reap where we can visit Angkor Wat in detail. We then drive to the North East to visit the Preah Vihear, the Mekong dolphins and drive to the border with Laos.
 

Laos
The country where time has stood still for a long time. The entire country has as many inhabitants as the city of Hanoi in Vietnam. So it is very quiet there. We enter the country in the far south. Here are dozens of islands in the wide Mekong River. We visit a few and then drive through the mountain area to Savannahket where we cross the border into Thailand.
 

Thailand
The most touristy country on the route. But the eastern part on the border with Laos is not yet visited very often. We cross the lowlands and then enter the mountain areas of the north. Here we follow routes that are almost completely unknown to the general public, along the Mekong River that serves as the border between Laos and Thailand. Please note that in Thailand we drive on the left, the only country on this trip.
 

Laos
In the northern part we cross the Mekong River again and drive back into Laos. This is northern Laos which is very different from the south where we were before. This is the high mountain region of the country and traditional tribes still live here. Here we ride the old route of one of our first Laos motorcycle trips. We will of course visit the old capital Luang Prabang and drive over beautiful mountain roads to the border with China.
 

China
The most difficult country on the route to enter with your own transport. It is quite a process to obtain permits for this in advance. In the south of China the mountains are even higher and steeper and beautiful tribes live in this inhospitable area. We pass small villages and drive on a beautiful mountain route along the borders with Laos and Vietnam.
 

Vietnam
We cross the border and then immediately enter the route of our Vietnam Highlights motorcycle trip. We follow this for a large part, via the beautiful mountains of Dong Van and the Ba Be lake. Then we included a few extra routes that take us to Halong Bay by motorbike. We board the boat here for a beautiful end to this long journey, before we make the last ride back to Hanoi.
