Nepal Mustang

What participants wrote us:

First of all, it was a once-in-a-lifetime trip! Unforgettable. We had so many unique experiences that it is already becoming difficult to remember them all. The contact with Motor Trails was excellent, quick and concise answers to my questions. Roland is a special man, a lot of experience, sure of himself and a solid off-road rider. Hans and I were clearly the riders with the least off-road experience and had problems with some of Roland's choices. Steep roads, loose cobblestones and above all a lot of sand, roads that we would never choose ourselves. We fell a number of times, fortunately without permanent damage to people and machines. By the way, we have all fallen at some point. Says something about the difficulty of the course. Sunil was always a lifesaver and always quickly on the spot if any help was needed, an absolute hero and indispensable on this trip. Overall it was a fantastic trip. Beautiful landscapes, friendly people, lots of noise and dust, fantastic food, UNIQUE! The highlights of the trip? Muktinath, the highest and highlight of the trip where I finally saw my first 8000-er: Dhaulagiri. The old way back to Kagbeni and the stay there. The safari in Chitwan turned out to be more fascinating than I had expected because of the birds and the tiger. Driving through Pokhara and Kathmandu were also highlights.

Contact with Motor Trails was pleasant and friendly, adequate email responses. The trip is well balanced, in the sense that advanced off-road riders also got their money's worth. I also looked for and found beautiful and diverse places to stay, although as far as I am concerned, no matter how comfortable (I like to swim), the large hotels could have been simpler to stay in the local atmosphere. Roland arranged the meeting times well. I would have liked more information about the route itself, what awaited us each day. If the goal of the trip is to serve as many people as possible, then we succeeded. Something for everyone with a varied package. Nature, exciting motorcycling and culture. If you like safari then that is a highlight of the trip. The lodge there is also very atmospheric, giving you the feeling that you are in Africa. Beautiful. Highlights for me were Jomson, Kagbeni and Muktinath. But I also found Kathmandu impressive.
Hans van Es - Nepal Mustang - April 2024

I thought it was a very fun and beautiful trip. With a few fun challenging rides. And a few nice/separate hotels. I really liked the quiet days in the beginning after traveling and, as Ronald himself thought, I also thought the trip was nicely balanced. I thought everything was well organized and there is nothing I would change. But if anything it would be driving further into the Mustang, which is also the highlight of the trip in terms of driving.
Niels van den Abeele - Nepal Mustang - April 2024

'I can look back on a wonderful time I spent in Nepal, the return trip with Qatar via Doha was great!! I thought the tour in Nepal itself was a great experience. I had actually assumed that the trip would have more of a “pilot character”. I had expected to have to look for a hotel in every destination, but this had already been completely arranged by Roland. The country and its people made a huge impression on me. I was able to discover this a little more myself by spending a few extra days in Kathmandu, which allowed me to see a number of extra things. I would like to thank you again for the trip and perhaps see you next time.
Jos Bruining - Nepal Mustang - November 2023

The trip was great, the bikes were great and the mechanic was very knowledgeable and acted quickly and correctly. The difficult course at the top of the mountains is truly beautiful. And the safari park was also very beautiful. Doing the ride in the opposite direction would be better.
Start a little calmer with the high point in the last days. We've enjoyed it so far.
Marc van Rij - Nepal Pilot - November 2023

The views are simply special. A little longer in the high mountains would be nice. The opposite direction is more beautiful (the journey has now been reversed compared to the pilot journey - MT). No further comments or comments.
Pierre Berckmoes - Nepal Pilot - November 2023

Everything went very smoothly, from prior information regarding the available bikes, considering my size, to booking, payment and the tour itself. So, 10 out of 10. I thought it was a fantastic tour. Maybe the men in the group would have liked to have covered more ground may, but as the only woman, I thought it was just right. Highlights are the real connection with the population, the traffic, the cremations, the food along the way, good group atmosphere ... Tour guide Kris seems a good travel friend. He leads the tour without acting as a leader. He has everything under control with the necessary calm, patience, empathy..Good man !! Keep it up, I hope that my age will not prevent me undertaking further tours with you."

Fabienne Feys - Magic Nepal - October 2012

"Tour is good but I would have liked more riding. Highlights: ride to the border with Tibet and the trip to Pokhara. Tour guide Kris is very good, despite the many problems with luggage and motorbikes, nevertheless, always a solution."
Robby - Magic Nepal - October 2012

"Great country! Beautiful scenery. Tour guide Kris was very good!"
Philippe Rodriguez - Magic Nepal - October 2012

"Contact is efficient and effective. Tour is a wonderful souvenir, a life experience. Motor Trails provided the ideal mix of adventure, nature, relaxation, and a very necessary supply of excitement. A powerful "magic" vacation! We were soon inducted into the culture of Nepal, culminating in the cremation and the whole atmosphere around that. As far as the rides were concerned, the unpaved ride was a top moment and took place at the right moment in the tour. The quality of the motorcycles was sometimes a bit too "adventurous". The motivation of both the mechanic and the driver, however, was impeccable! In a fairly diverse group Kris knew how fulfill everyone's expectations in an almost unconscious way. He comes to grips with the group in no time, communicates spontaneously and makes any necessary changes  with sufficient assertiveness. He solves problems before anyone realises, he is very versatile. As far as I am concerned Kris as a tour guide is a star!"
Jan Coppens - Magic Nepal - October 2012

"Contact is good, clear with a quick response. Tour is an excellent experience, adventurous. Tour guide Kris is very good, always approachable and knowledgeable. Gave us the necessary freedom and didn’t put himself too much in the foreground. His definition of himself as being a tour guide rather than a tour leader actually sums it up perfectly. Besides that he is also a likable guy.”
Jan van Dun - Magic Nepal - October 2012

"Contact is very good, helpful. Flexible ;-). Tour is magnificent. Regrettable regarding the missing luggage. The country is breathtaking. The motorbikes often broke down. Highlights are the landscape, the local people. Tour guide was very good, helpful. Good bloke as they say here. Really did his best to please everyone, which is not always easy."
Anthony De Roeck - Magic Nepal - October 2012

"Contact was correct and "to the point ". The tour is very varied. Hotels were well chosen. It was truly" magical ". Preferably organise for a bit later because the still frequent rains and consequently wet roads. Tour guide Tiziana Is very professional. And always manages to solve problems with enormous optimism. She gets ten out of ten, a "good looking" lady in the bargain. "Lara Croft" I called her. Praise also for the mechanics! Excellent work. Only major drawback is the poor preparation of the motorbikes."
Luc Van Nieuwerburgh - Magic Nepal - September 2011

"Contact was good, reception at the airport less so, everyone was ready on time but did not know exactly what the plan was. Nice tour, beautiful country with splendid highways. For me there could be more attention given to culture, visits to schools / convents, and better bikes. Highlights were the route to Tibet from last resort, bungee jump and trying out the new off-road route. Tour guide was fun and enthusiastic but pays too little attention to culture. All in all worth doing again."
Edwin van Meer - Magic Nepal - September 2011

"Journey fully met my expectations. But motorbikes were in irresponsibly poor condition. Luckily we had two very good mechanics and everything was easy to repair. Tour guide Tiziana is just perfection, tackles every problem with a smile. (We’re working on new motorbikes - MT)."
Tony Geldhof - Magic Nepal - September 2011

"Contact and preparation were good. Really beautiful tour and nice group. A great adventure !! Weather has sometimes put a spanner in the wheels when it came to looking at things cultural. There were many highlights, off-roading on mud tracks, Chitwan, Kathmandu, rafting, etc. Tour guide is sociable and good for the overall atmosphere. I had expected more knowledge about the culture and the country."
Peter Flower Mountain - Magic Nepal - September 2011

"At departure at Schiphol the person who was supposed to be there to receive us was not there. In Nepal Tiziana was a good tour guide. The tour was very good, but it was not convenient to start straight away right in the middle of the busy city of Katmandu. That besides, I thought it was an impressive tour with many highlights. I will definitely recommend it to others."
Ines Hutten - Magical Nepal - September 2011

"Contact is fine, concise and to the point. The trip was exceptional, I really enjoyed it very much. Moreish .....Room for improvement: The motorbikes, the flight and the time of year. Highlights are sightseeing in Kathmandu and most of all the travelling: the traffic, the hassle and the people on and around the road, the beautiful surroundings, toilet visits in nature with great views, and the off-road trip. Tour guide Tiziana is terrific."
Karin Hutten - Magical Nepal - September 2011

The contact is pleasant and consultation is easy. A great tour. Sikkim was actually too short, it is so beautiful! Again had many brilliant Motor Trails adventures, with river passages and bridges that are hardly do-able. Leadership was good. Niels a top tour guide! ?I enjoyed the tour enormously and Neil has really contributed to that.
Ella Verhagen - Nepal Sikkim - 2009

"Pfff, amazing!! It was truly magnificent. The roads were super cool, some heavy rides in the dark, crossing rivers on little boats, bridges, tractors that had to help, really super cool. The group was also very nice, had a lot of fun. Tour guide Niels is awesome, he really contributed hugely to make it what it was. Unbelievable the knowledge that man has! I loved it! A great trip! "
Mischa Ter Braak - Nepal Sikkim - 2009

"Contact is excellent and especially our tour guide Niels was fantastic. Trip is TERRIFIC !!"
Dick Ter Braak - Nepal Sikkim - 2009

"The trip was wonderful, adventurous enough and good guidance. We were pleased with the hotels, very good motorcycles and service. Thank you all, it was another great experience!"
Rens Dibbets - Nepal Sikkim - 2009

"Contact is particularly good. The tour was an extraordinary experience,  would not have liked to miss this. I look back on with great pleasure. We had a excellent tour guide, be careful with this guy."
Reinder Boerema - Nepal Sikkim - 2009

"The contact with Motor Trails is as usual excellent. Your great strength is, if I get for instance Marco on the phone he knows exactly who I am. Moreover, he also knows which tours I'm interested in. And is able to offer good advice."
Wim Delleman - Nepal Sikkim - 2009

"Appreciated that Marco managed to be at Schiphol to give us latest info. Also, really good contact with the tour guide whilst traveling. Especially the first two riding days were particularly challenging and varied. Asphalted main roads easy to ride on, and beautiful landscapes. Chitwan National Park would not have been on my list. Off-road tracks after that are fine to ride on. Interesting route from Last Resort to the Chinese border because of the bizarre but therefore also interesting character near the border. An experience worth experiencing in itself."
Fred Wessels - Nepal 2009

"The contact with Motor Trails was fine. Always a quick response to emails etc. The tour was wonderful. Guidance was superb, the routes were fun to ride."
Claire Enkelaar - Nepal 2009

"Fantastic! Beautiful country, beautiful people, beautiful culture, green nature, beautiful mountain trails, great off-road, nice places, good local hotels with all necessities. I bet this will not be the last motorcycle adventure tour ...... . I’ll have to start saving again. "
Rob van Mourik - Nepal 2009

"The contact with Motor Trails overall was / is good. The trip was very difficult especially in the beginning, a lot off-roading, which I had not counted on. Eventually I mastered it. The motor bikes could be better. "
Rebecca Elfrink - Nepal 2009

"The tour is beautiful. The first two travel days were not as planned, were looking back the two best days of the tour. Super good tour guide, with lots of enthusiasm and perseverance. I can only be positive about Motor Trails."
John Delisse - Nepal 2009
