“Contact brief and concise but effective. First of all, I had a really good holiday. Nicaragua is a very beautiful country to ride through. Tourism is still in its infancy, which for me only adds to the enjoyment. This was my first trip outside of Europe and North America.  It took me several days to realise that our western standards mean nothing in these kinds of countries. Once I let go of all that it felt as if a warm blanket of peace and quiet wrapped itself around me. For me personally the individual days were really the highlights, and perhaps that says something about the itinerary. For instance the ascend and descend of the Cerra Negra, the climb up to the waterfall on Ometepe, and the ride around Ometepe’s southern volcano, because this was brilliant off-road motoring. Apart from that I thought that the cloud forests (the northern part of the trip) were really beautiful.  Tour guide Lidwien got her work cut out, especially on the first day; in my opinion she solved matters very professionally with the tools at her disposal, that also counts for the rest of the trip. I thought her a pleasant personality. Friendly, but resolute and firm. She has the ability of making a group out of a bunch of individuals, and that is a talent. She takes the lead and makes sure everyone has their say.”
