MOTORBIKES
During this trip, you ride on an AKT TTR 200cc. The AKT TTR 200cc is a versatile dual-sport motorcycle, ideal for both on-road and off-road use.
DIFFICULTY AND OFFROAD
During this trip through Colombia, we drive on different type of roads and through various climate zones. The route follows either good asphalt roads, sandy paths in the hot flat countryside, stony mountain roads or gravel roads. The highest mountain pass during this tour goes up to 3600 meters of altitude. However, we do not spend the nights at very high altitudes. The daily distances are sometimes long, but usually there is enough time to make nice stops along the way.
About half of the route is on dirt roads. Most roads are not difficult to drive, but some routes are tough without any off-road experience. We therefore recommend that you follow a basic off-road training course for this trip. Sometimes there is a possibility to skip a tough route by following an easier route together with the support car. However, the trip is not suitable for beginners.
ACCOMMODATION
We spend the nights in mid-range hotels. These are reasonable hotels with mostly a private bathroom and toilet. Since the temperatures can rise considerably, hot water might not always be available.
CLIMATE
October and November are Colombia's rainiest months. The mountainous regions where we focus on with this tour suffer a secondary raining season in April, May and June. However, the highlands of Colombia you can expect showers throughout the whole year.
CLOTHING
A helmet is mandatory, as well as protective clothing, gloves, and boots or sturdy shoes. Due to the possible warm temperatures in the lowlands, it is advisable to bring breathable protective clothing. In the mountains you'll need warmer clothing. It is also advisable to bring a rain suit.
INSURANCE
The motorcycles are equipped with standard third-party insurance. This insurance covers physical damage to third parties. Material damage to third parties is not insurable in Colombia. Damage on the motorbike is not covered by the basic insurance. Damage caused on the motorbike by yourself is at your own expense.
VISA
Colombia exempts a group of 102 nationalities and territories from the Visitor (V) visa for short-stay. If you're unsure whether you need a visa for Colombia, please check st with us.
MOTORBIKE DEPOSIT
When you pick up your bike, it will be registered in your name. You will be fully responsible for the bike during the tour, including any fines incurred. A security deposit of $1,000,000 COP will be held on your bank card at that time.
