Bolivia Adventure

During this trip you will ride a Suzuki DR650 motorbike or similar.

Difficulty of the journey
This trip we drive in very varied landscape and climate zones. Sometimes the route goes on good asphalt roads, on sandy paths in the hot flat countryside, but also on stony mountain roads through the tropical forests and on gravel roads with mountain passes of over 4000 meters. However, we do not spend the night at a very high altitude. The day distances are sometimes long, but usually there is enough time to make some nice stops along the way. About half of the route is on unpaved roads. Most roads are not difficult to drive, but some routes are tough without off-road experience. We therefore recommend that you follow a basic off road training before joining this trip. On the spot you can also still choose to skip a tough route by following the easy variant with the support car. However, the journey is not suitable for beginners. The motorbikes are light and agile Enduros.

Accommodation
Our overnight  stays are in middle-class hotels. These are usually reasonable hotels in Bolivia with private bathroom and toilet. Since temperatures can rise there is not always hot water present.

Clothing
Mandatory items: helmet, motorcycle clothing with protection, good quality gloves, and high boots or sturdy shoes. Because of the temperature it’s recommended you bring breathable protective clothing. A good option is a protective armoured shirt with an airy enduro shirt over the top. When you choose your motorcycle trousers make sure they provide sufficient ventilation. We recommend an open face helmet and goggles with a good seal against dust.

Motor Insurance
The motorcycles come with standard liability insurance. This insurance covers physical damage to third parties. Material damage to third parties is not insurable in Bolivia. Damage to the motorcycle is not covered by the basic insurance. You are liable for costs of damage to the motorcycle caused by you.

Visa
For most nationalities you does not require you to apply for a Bolivia visa in advance. Upon arrival at the airport you will receive a stamp in your passport, which allows you to stay in the country for three weeks. Please check if this also counts for your nationality.

More details about the trip and items to bring can be found in the tour’s handbook which you will receive approx. one month prior to departure.
