Motorbikes 
During this trip, you ride on a Kawasaki KLX150cc (picture) or a Honda CRF150cc. You can upgrade  to a KAWASAKI 230CC OR HONDA CRF 250 RALLY motorbike, although availability is limited 

Difficulty and offroad 
Weather has a major impact on the asphalt and on the dirt roads; this may mean that what was still a passable road last year now may be in poor condition. We ride on both paved and unpaved roads and paths. Some parts are somewhat difficult. Off-road riding experience is a requirement. 

Accommodation 
We stay in a nice selection of hotels and resorts. They are middle class, but the locations are most of the time very nice. 

Climate 
The dry season is from April to  November. However,  sometimes there is still rain in the mountains during this time. We also have a tour planned in January during the rainy season. If you want more challenge and more muddy roads then is this your best tour date.  

Clothing 
Experienced riders know better than anyone how important it is to wear good clothing, and this is something we stick to on this tour. The wearing of long trousers (motorcycle pants or jeans) is mandatory, as are a summer (motor) jacket, sturdy motorcycle shoes/boots or possibly hiking boots and summer gloves.  Because we ride a lot off-road, it’s important to have good gear, high off-road boots and body protection. Wearing a good pair of sunglasses is a must. We wear a helmet with a visor - you can buy one in Indonesia for around 20 euros. However, it is best to bring your helmet for good quality. 

Insurance 
For this trip travel insurance with global coverage is compulsory. Damage to a third party caused in an accident is usually handled locally. Regardless of who is at fault, the foreigner will usually have to pay damages to third parties.  Damage to the motorcycle is insured with personal risk of 300 to 500 USD, depending on which motorcycle you choose. 

Visa 
You need a visa for Indonesia For most nationalities this can be arranged upon arrival and will cost around USD $35-40. For British Overseas citizens, British Subjects, or British Overseas Territory citizens, please check www.gov.uk for exceptions. Please note that your passport must be valid for at least six months after your return.
